Professor John Lyon, BSc (Hons) MSc PhD FCA FICR FCSI FIoD FRSA CF CDir CSci.
John is past global VP of Covance and as a senior pharmaceutical executive experience of sponsoring trials across different therapeutic areas. He initially trained as a clinical biochemist, then as a Chartered Accountant.
John has held non-executive and chairman appointments spanning over 25 years as both a venture capitalist and a personal investor and was awarded the Northern Entrepreneur of the Year Award for science and technology. He combines his business career with his role as Professor of Practice at Warwick Business School.
Founder, Director and Chief Medical Officer - Dr Ian Smith, MBE MB ChB.B MedSc (Hons).
Ian founded Synexus, the world’s first independent clinical trials organisation, whilst practising as a GP. He went on to build the Synexus model into the foremost SMO with sites across the world.
Today Ian is a non-executive director of several healthcare companies. Ian was awarded an MBE for services to health research.
CEO - Stuart Young
Stuart previously managed the UK division of Synexus overseeing nine dedicated research sites. Stuart is particularly focussed on the use of technology to reduce costs in clinical trials, provide a first rate patient experience and ensure that Panthera is at the cutting edge of clinical research.
Stuart, who holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, has had extensive experience in data management and the introduction of new technologies into organisations.
Chief Compliance Officer - Jane Restorick
Jane, as Chief Operating Officer and later as Chief Patient Officer, was a member of the senior leadership team at Synexus.
Jane has extensive global experience in conducting clinical trials from both a sponsor and a site perspective. She also has wide experience in M&A activity and in building and leading effective management teams.
Chief Commercial Officer - Chris Dodd
Chris was previously Head of Commercial at AES, where he led the world’s largest commercial team on site and patient access.
Prior to joining AES Chris held senior management positions at Medtronic, Beckton Dickinson and Bracket Global now part of Signant Health. Chris has a BSc in Bio-medicine from Leeds.
General Manager Oncology - Matt Cooper
Matt Cooper has been involved in clinical research for over 20 years in industry, academia and the NHS, including time at AstraZeneca, the National Cancer Research Network and as an Exec Director of the NIHR Clinical Research Network.
Chief Financial Officer - James Maxwell
James was previously COO and Head of Finance at CHS Healthcare, where he oversaw the growth and development of the company following Private Equity investment from BGF in 2018.
In addition to this commercial and operational experience, James also has a wealth of financial and M&A experience having spent the first 10 years of his career working within KPMG’s Healthcare Corporate Finance team.
